"This is not your— your fault..."
"I told you, I'm Robin. The Robin that murdered you and became the fell dragon, Grima."
"Promise me you'll escape from this place..."
"Please, return to the Table! It's too dangerous!"
Not only did Chrom's dying wishes not come true, the exact opposite did. Robin blames themself for everything to the point of embracing it, and the site where their heart was shattered becomes their only shelter.
#it's weeping over grima hours again#it's just... the way this is exactly what chrom DIDN'T want for them...#and i'm thinking about some of brave chrom's lines in feh...#“in truth i know that prayer alone cannot prevail against power. but my heart tells me something else.”#"people's wishes. their pleas for help... they are never in vain. i will believe that for as long as i live.”#and the fe universe does appear to suggest a connection between like... magic. wishes. the soul. strength of will. quintessence.#SO SURELY CHROM'S DYING WORDS HAVE TO HAVE SOME POWER#it's not enough for another world's fate to change... i need grima to know peace#i want to believe that the grimas who die get summoned to askr. they have to. they have to know freedom because chrom wants that for them#ughhhh i'm actually literally crying all over my laptop because of this#grima studies#fe13

Moe initially going by a direct masculization of its feminine deadname, plus a neutral shortening, hopping between the three depending on presentation for the day. Switching up pronouns as it does. Until finally deciding it needs to shed All Of That and try something completely different, that doesn't have any connection to those names at all. This, too, is a Brunoism. To me. Moe 🤝 Bruno -- men of many names
#moe tag#moe lore#and that's not even getting to mani. mani is not moe's deadname. it's not even fucking close LMFAO#man. i forgot just how fucking dire it was for bruno though i feel so bad for him.#you can file being disowned and thrown out under a queer coded experience too but honestly?#i think it's more interesting to imagine like. culturally homophobia/transphobia just doesn't exist in the same way it does irl#like so in this case. it's more politically damning for what bruno goes through in canon#his mother committed a grave affront to the empire (leaked secrets w askr) and was severely punished for it#aka imprisoned and left to die in isolation. horrifying. and bc of being his mother's child#bruno is also cast out. ect ect incase anyone needed a refresher#so going back. it's more politically damning to even be ASSOCIATED w someone who leaked intell against the empire#than it is like. hey it's prince bruno now. btw.#this DOES call into question like. what is the timeline here actually. but honestly that just makes things funnier#like. if bruno was chosen as a name/established AFTER not quite landing on zacharias#the implication that the disgraced 'princess' of embla still gets to be acknowledged as a prince by his own name#but is still damned by being related to his mother. like. once again another trans accepting remy incident#you can be trans. however i CANNOT forgive you for the Crime of the circumstances of your birth#no not those ones those are fine. zacharias? yeah that's fine. i'm talking about your mother#also imagining it's veronica who's been playing telephone for Everything.#idk idk might be incredibly flawed lore wise BUT. it is funny. my loadbearing headcanons......

listen to me. the Emblems are living existential horror. I am just going to talk about them and you can do nothing about this.
They are. Explicitly. not the people they seem to be. Emblem Marth knows he's not the real Marth. He's aware that he is simply a simulacrum, the personified image of Marth, as seen by myth and history, reconstructed into a person.
Listen to me. Look me in the eyes. What route is Corrin? What route is Byleth?
All of them. It's ALL OF THEM. And that's why they're so vague. That's why they're nigh contradictory. They're every telling of that character, rolled together into a ball.
And in Elyos? That's fine. There is only one Marth, and one Corrin, and one whoever Emblem. But you see, in Askr... There's so many of them. And they're just Another One. Just Another Marth.
But also, now suddenly all too keenly fake.
Any given Corrin in FEH is not filled with contradiction, because FEH is not restricted to having Just the One - you can have one for BR, one for CQ, another for Rev, keep some vague... The multiplicity of the characters can be portrayed in different figures in different stages of life.
But. the Emblems are just "stories".
DOES ANY EMBLEM EVER REFERENCE POSTCANON?
My theory is. the Emblems only remember what is contained in their story, within their game.
Take for example, Emblem Lyn, and Emblem Roy. If Lyn truly is the Lyn-- how come she doesn't recognize one of her best friend's children?
And yes, Sigurd is keenly aware that he dies, but... His death is part of the story, no? It's not something that happens far off and far away, it's part of the plot. Of course he's going to know it.
Whereas Emblem Hector, who dies in a different game to his Emblem's origin, is blissfully unaware of his own fate. It's not part of his story, it's part of Roy's.
(Listen. This first crossed my mind when I read all of Emblem Hector's bond conversations. He references Serra thrice, and his own daughter not even ONCE.)
They are their games, down to the fundamental level. FEH can have a Celica be Queen of Valentia, but that's just one blurb of epilogue, so obviously Emblem Celica is not.
You cannot change my mind on this reading of them. You cannot.
And. The game of course never explores this. But how does it feel for them? To only have this nebulous sense of identity? To remember and feel iterations of you that contradict one another? FEH opens so many doors it is too cowardly to explore in depth.
How does Marth feel remembering both versions of his own past, one with Kris and one without? How does Corrin feel knowing every path she has walked? How do they feel seeing versions of themselves that are specific lived experiences, instead of just legends?
In Elyos, there is no one to contrast them. There are only the legends, only the Emblems. Nobody truly remembers exactly how their stories went, so they never need to specify and show their version of events. They just exist, as the holy, powerful, worshipped Emblems.
Does Lucina know who her mother is? Does Roy? Does Lyn know who she marries? Does Hector know he's going to die? Does Byleth see every student dead or saved?
They are their games and they are every version of their games they are every version of themselves which amounts to being NONE of them.
Which amounts to vague platitudes and allusions to other events and what is a doylist fear of spoilers and an advertisement is also a watsonian nightmare.
This isn't even the worst thing about them.
They're not just simulacra. They're also tools. Literal objects to be called upon and dismissed at will. Sure, in the Somniel, they can move around. But.
They can only affect the physical world in the arena. In combat. Because that's what they are! They are tools of war!
And sure, the divine dragons ask them nicely for their powers, and they get to keep their free will when summoned this way instead of having their souls subjugated.
or well. Do they...?
Do we ever.... see an Emblem say no...?
Of course, the divine dragons are Just and Good and Nice. Obviously the Emblems want to aid them. Obviously the Emblems would rather fight beside Alear than Sombron, saving the world they've been entrusted to. Because the Emblems are their stories, the manifestation of Good and Rightous Heroes, always ready to save the day and slay evil.
Which, of course, leaves us with something unconfirmed.
Could an Emblem say no if it wanted to?
The line between divine and fell is dangerously thin. (That is a conspiracy rant for another day.) Like, we see Alear combine prayers and incantations into one package with just prayer effects. You can use an incantation as a prayer if you put your mind to it and you can probably also do it the other way around.
The Emblems either have no choice at all, or are given a choice with one option they would never pick, which renders having a choice moot in the first place.
They are tools, and they know this. They are swords, and it's all a matter of how nice the sheath is.
And yet. All of them remember being human. All of them have loved ones that do not exist, not for them. And what strikes me about the Emblems added to FEH so far... they're all universally stoked to be able to eat.
It's like a fucking sensory deprivation chamber. Unable to touch, to eat, to decide where you go, and the only physical sensation they DO feel is when someone touches their ring. Like I'm realizing this as I write this goddamn post. An Emblem going "That spot was bothering me" when being polished is the only time they ever express physical sensation. Like feeling the dirt on the metal is all they get.
(Side note: you know you're fucked when you look up the petting minigame for Lore)
Like. They know they're fake. That they never had anything outside of this half existence. But they remember it anyways. Of course these memories are going to be precious to them, as vague and muddled and contradictory as they are.
They're tools. They're literal objects. They're alive. They just want to eat some good food again. They want to be with people they love, with people that are long dead and gone.
And this weird spirit existence has to be enough. Smell good food instead of eating it. Make friends with your wielders, enjoy the scarce scenery you get to witness after every battle.
It has to be enough. There's nothing else for them.
And when their duty is done, they can finally rest.

Rip And Tear - Xilonen & Chasca x Male!Doom!Reader
A/N: Alright, here's something inspired by Doom. It doesn't include specific references, and is based on the human version of Doomguy (pre DOOM 2016). If you like it and want to see more of this idea, the asks are open. Enjoy! CW: Violence, established relationship, some made up lore to flesh out the Reader. I'm honestly not sure what genre this is.
“They are rage, brutal, without mercy. But you… You will be worse. Rip and tear, until it is done.” - Xbalanque, The First Pyro Archon
“In the first age, in the first battle, when the shadows first lengthened, one stood. Burned by the embers of war, his soul blistered by the fires of Abyss and tainted beyond ascension, he chose the path of perpetual torment. In his ravenous hatred he found no peace; and with boiling blood he scoured the Abyssal Void seeking vengeance against the dark lords who had wronged him. He bore the ancient name of Natlan, and those that tasted the bite of his sword named him Askari. Though his body fell, consumed by the eternal fires of conflict, he rages on through each that bears his name.” - Tablet of Tona, Third Cycle, Passage CLXXIV
Xilonen
Every time the nation of Pyro goes to war, a new Askari is selected from the tribes by the unified will of all six Wayob. The legends say that this man, worthy of carrying the name, will not seek it or desire it, but will bear it until his role is done. He shall never grow old, they say, as he will meet a glorious death. Then, his successor will be selected should the need arise.
As for Xilonen? She is not happy with it, by any meaning of the word. Of course it is her husband that happens to be the tormented, death-destined slayer. That’s just how life is going to treat her, huh?
First it was the massive abyssal invasion, one unlike any other in the previous century. She was one of the first to be evacuated from the Children of the Echoes, as her skills - no matter her combat prowess - were too valuable to put on the line. As such, she spent most of the conflict in the Stadium’s forge, crafting weapons at inhuman speeds for the ever dwindling defenders. The moments when she was allowed to leave its safety were anything but a break, as were her nights. She tossed and turned restlessly in the empty bed, worrying about you. Her family was safe, but you were not. There was no news of your fate. But Xilonen never assumed you were dead - you were strong, yes, you couldn’t have died so easily. If she only wasn’t so crucial to everything! She swore, looking out the window towards her overran home, that she would turn the world upside down to find you when it was all over. But fate had other plans.
The war wasn’t over yet when she was taking a breather near the entrance, subconsciously scanning for any familiar faces amongst the constant inwards flow of ragged, scared refugees. At some point, the crowd started parting to make way for someone. Curious, Xilonen peeked out - only to see you. You, her beloved, her second half, covered in black blood and corrupted goo. Head to toe in armor unfamiliar to her, in one hand you carried your helmet and in the other, much to her horror… the obsidian shard with ASKR inscribed in runes.
She froze. This was not happening. It took an entire day and a terrible hangover afterwards to come to terms with what just occurred. In one moment, you were fine. You were back. In the very next second, you were dead. Your fate was sealed by the name you were given. No matter how hard she would try, you wouldn’t be able to grow old with her. Before a single hair grayed on your head, you would scamper off to some dank hole and throw yourself at some gross monster just to die and leave her a broken-hearted widow, and your children fatherless orphans. For the first time in a long while, Xilonen was at a loss for words. The only things she could do, after countless rounds and hours of anger at the gods, she could only curl up and cry.
Once the emotions passed, and alongside with them the war, the mood was bittersweet when she embraced you. You were alright. You wouldn’t die just yet. Then, she promised that no matter what the world was to throw at you, you wouldn’t shed a drop of blood until the prophecy demanded it of you. And she intends to hold that word to this very day.
Now that the war is over, Xilonen is your primary arms dealer. No matter how tired she is, she puts even a little work into a new weapon or a new equipment piece for you every day. She has the freedom to do so, as Mauvika is obliged to foot the bill for the Warrior’s needs. Xilonen made sure to analyse your armor, finding that it was the same exact set worn by one of the ancient Askari - his spirit led you to it, no doubt about that. Though it’s mostly alien to her, a remnant of draconic technology of old, she does try to not only fix it, but improve it as well. So far, she is quite successful. Whenever you go out, expect to have your equipment fixed up, cleaned, sharpened and polished to perfection.
Even if you find that too much, Xilonen will turn your refusal down. It’s not only her job as the Name Forger to care for the Askari’s gear, but she is also obliged to look out for you as your wife. It’s the least she can do for you.
She can’t help you on your quest, as most of it is secretly planned by Mauvika so the information remains clandestine, and she absolutely cannot match you in combat. Xilonen is a good fighter, as every name bearer in Natlan, but you are several grades above her. Hell, you could even go head to head with Mauvika should the need arise - after all, one of the Askaris is famous for killing a Pyro Archon when he turned malevolent and embarked on a path of oppression. She saw you wield both blade and gun with repulsive efficiency…
Repulsive, as Xilonen dislikes gore. Yes, she is aware that it lies amongst the methods of Askari, and yes, she knows that it is very efficient at routing monsters, but it’s so spine chilling to watch you rip your enemies apart. She read about the terrible strength of your predecessors, she saw the murals, but nothing could compare to the sight and the sheer brutal efficiency of your massacres. Because that is the only word to describe most of your encounters with both monsters and humans. After a few brief moments, all that is left of them is a pile of mangled bodies and the sickening stench of iron in the air.
Luckily, she sees it quite rarely. Nobody sane in Natlan dares to stand in your way - after all, no man or woman would like to have their head skewered with their broken radius, so it's clueless and arrogant Fatui that end up on the wrong end of your weapon. Hilichurls, especially stronger ones, are often too limited in their minds to appreciate just what will happen to them if they come too close to you.
Xilonen thanks Xbalanque each day that your Ancient Name does not corrupt your mind. With just how coldly ruthless you are in combat, you would think an Askari unable to feel or love. But you are still the same man she fell for - just with a tougher look and more blood on his hands.
Your wife feels incredibly safe in your arms. She knows that you would never raise a hand on somebody undeserving of retribution. Your divine muscles, gained thanks to the supernatural power of the Name, makes you a perfect pillow. Be ready to be her headrest - Xilonen has limited time with you, and she aims to make the most of it. She already started preparing a children’s room for your heirs. It’s best to start as soon as possible so they get many fond memories with their father before he inevitably gives his life for her, them and all of Natlan.
Chasca
Her role as a peacekeeper didn’t really exist as a separate profession in the ancient times. Most of it was done by the chiefs and their loyal entourage of warriors, but when the population grew and the tribes expanded into more complex structures, that wasn’t sufficient. In recent years, it has been even harder to maintain order as a long period of peace, and the absence of an Askari to be wary of, brough the people of Natlan further apart from each other. But not anymore.
It happened in the middle of the invasion. Buildings of the Flower Feather Clan were burning with unnatural, purple flames. Dark ooze was leaking from several Abyss portals, constantly spewing new monsters. Her fellow defenders were fighting bravely, but at that point corrosion and simple, human exhaustion started to set it. She watched as they dwindled in number, falling to blows of clubs and axes, others being torn to pieces by jagged, corrupted fangs of Rifthounds. You have long vanished from her sight, and in the midst of combat, she assumed you died as well, and realized that she was soon to follow. In her mind, it was the end. The end of her tribe, her family and herself. Her human parents, Chuychu, you, maybe even Chimpu and Coya.
Her ammunition ran out, and it was down to just her Vision. Exhaustion was slowly robbing her of strength to fight on. A lapse in concentration and she found herself knocked to the ground by a corroded Mitachurl. It raised its axe, ready to kill her. But then, a roar - no, a battle cry, coming from the skies. Both she and the monster looked up, its last sight being the underside of your boot. Chasca watched as it came crashing down, its head splattering against the wooden platform under the force of your attack. You were bleeding, wounded, wielding the remnants of your weapon like a short knife. But on your face was an expression of hate. Rage. Combat fury that she hasn’t seen either in a human or a saurian. Hilichurls approached you, only to be met with a barrage of cuts, fists and knees. You broke one’s arm like it was a twig, breaking its face alongside its mask on your fist. Another was cut open, the broken blade passing through muscle and bone as if it was butter. One was unfortunate to stumble after a kick; you stomped on its leg and, holding onto the monster’s shoulder, pulled the head alongside the spine out of its body like it was a weed. Chasca could only watch as the foes were killed, one by one in a torrent of blood and guts. Eventually, they just… broke. They fled, leaving you standing alone amidst the bodies of your comrades and whatever was left of theirs.
Before she could even speak a word, you hoisted her by her collar and, without a word, carried her to the chief’s hut where survivors were gathered. When she came to her senses, she didn’t ask any questions - it wasn’t the time for that. Both of you led whatever was left of the tribe to the Stadium. Only on the way back did Chasca notice that it wasn’t a broken sword you were wielding. It was an obsidian sigil mounted on a handle. A sigil with nothing else but the letters ASKR carved into the obsidian. Once you got to your destination, you wandered off and she saw you again only after the invasion
You weren’t there to comfort her when Chuychu succumbed to corrosion. She knew, however, that you couldn’t. Your new name, just like hers, came with duties that had to be attended to.
Who would have thought that Chasca would be the one to witness the cursed name, the mark of the beast, be granted to a chosen Warrior? And her husband no less? That was one of the only two good things to come out of the invasion. The latter being that, even if it’s a bit cynical to admit, only one of her loved ones died. There were many among the tribe who lost everyone they held dear. But you were still here, stronger and… cooler than ever.
Every Askari has similar traits of character, you being no exception. Calm, laconic in speech and dutiful… How could she have not expected you to be this generation’s Warrior? Perhaps it was the part of her that hoped you wouldn’t be marked for death. But alas, the will of the Wayob comes from their wisdom and strives for the good of all Natlan - it would be selfish to try and resist it.
On top of that, you didn’t seem opposed to your new destiny. You wore the armor and wielded the weapons with a grim determination and hatred boiling in your veins as you tore your enemies into pieces. While you weren’t eager to voluntarily put yourself in danger before, now you were the first to go in, and soon your given name became a synonym for victory. The remaining nests of the Abyss and the monsters lurking around dark corners were stomped into the mud, the survivors too scared of you to come out and threaten the people ever again. Then, riding on your Qucusaurus, you took to the ruins of Ochkanatlan to clean the corrosion. Although the Traveler got to the dragon first, you still had lots of things to kill.
And when all was said and done, you looked around at all the bodies and scoffed, for there were no more monster necks to snap, no more skulls to pulverise under your boots. So you returned home.
Chasca was with you all the way. Temporarily, there was a smaller need to keep the peace since everybody was still united and wary of a possible counterattack. She observed as you purged the monsters, and couldn’t tear her eyes away from you. The way an Askari fought was described in legends, but the retellings were nothing when compared to seeing you in the flesh. You were fearless. You brushed off any injury they could inflict on you, your body quickly regenerating as soon as you wet your blade with another monster’s blood. Your newly enhanced size and musculature let you snap necks and crush heads with spine-chilling ease. She is more than perfectly aware of why you fight this way - fear is the only way to get through to the primal minds of the monstrosities you fight. And it is effective, for they fear only one thing - you.
While she was very intimidating before, it’s an entirely different matter now. Just a mention of her getting involved creates an instant link to you in the minds of the troublemakers. If they pull her into this, she could definitely ask you for a hand and render them into nothing but ground meat. And although you don’t usually fight humans, she saw you drive back Fatui and similar criminals before. And the rest of Natlan has heard about it too. Now very few dare to rob caravans or poach saurians, fearing that they might land in the center of your attention. And nobody wants that.
Even if you made her role a bit less necessary, you do make up for it by being an absolute piece of cinema. Chasca could watch you train and fight for hours on end, seeing every muscle flex as you deliver well-earned retribution.
And when there are no monsters in urgent need of a proper beatdown, she can… enjoy your strength in greater detail, so to speak. But you don’t mind that, do you?
Thanks for reading!

I have another thought bunny or rat and it involved lif from book 3
So assuming from book 3 we know that his summoner die being Kiran fire emblem heroes or whoever you name the summoner do you think it's oddly suspicious that we never even fight the undead version of the summoner other than the fact that the summoner feature would be in book 4 but not counting the meta reason to me it doesn't make sense that hel the literal goddess of the death can't make the summoner rise from the dead because to me it will be good to mess with alfonse and give lif more of a chain to kill the askr tro to fullfil lifs contract
It's almost like lif thought his summoner is dead but for all we know his summoner could be back at their own world alive in some pocket dimension or whatever
Something to think about
*cracks knuckles* Book 3 rambles let’s go.
So, to answer your question, no. I don’t think it’s particularly odd. In text, it’s implied that Líf and Thrasir technically haven’t “died.” They were the sole survivors of the blood rite, made their deal with Hel, and she has run them both ragged ever since. She hasn’t granted them rest. The only time they truly achieve it is when our heroes finally put them out of their misery and THEN Hel raises their empty bodies (found in Ch13 Part 3). Our heroes kill them once more and then their torment is finally over.
This does raise a question however; what happened to everyone else when the blood rite was activated? Does Hel not have control over them? Well, on an in-story level, I imagine the magic rite used to create a weapon powerful enough to kill Hel wouldn’t also give Hel more power. It is death she cannot use, because all those souls are being used to power the weapon. It’s why it killed everyone and everything around it. It needed them as fuel. This would explain why Kiran might not exactly be available— in activating the blood rite, they were killed by it first.
But then, on a writing level, each season of FEH has a limited run time and they only include so much. By opening that particular Pandora’s box, you would be calling for answers for everyone in the cast. If this world’s Kiran is still here, even if it’s just their empty body, then where is Anna? Where is Sharena? Hell, is Bruno around? This is not a bad thing per se, but it would require a lot more words, more art/resources, and potentially snipe the effectiveness of how crippling alone this Alfonse and Veronica are. In my opinion, it’s a smart decision to leave it as is. All we need to know is that they’re dead, they all failed, and Líf and Thrasir are DESPERATE to fix this. It’s a lot more sad that way! Which is good! No need to hold back punches in the season about death.
Now, my personal brand of analysis loves treating Kiran as less of an avatar and more as an individual. Our pov character being the silliest little guy brings me joy. So, one of the reasons why I love thinking about Líf’s Askr is because the remains we find imply a Greek tragedy chain of events that culminated in Kiran of all people having to activate the blood rite. Based on what we know about these characters, that’s the last person they’d EVER want pulling the lever on that trolly problem. It’s not a fair ask! Kiran was ripped from their home, summoned to an alien world, asked to fight in wars on Askr’s behalf (they have never fought anyone in their life), and is now being asked to sacrifice themself and millions in order to maybe kill a goddess of death? No! That’s not fair! None of this is, but that’s a step too far. Asking for them to spill their blood in this way for a country that is not their own would be cruel. A blatant abuse of their generosity. These are not the types of a characters who would do that. I wouldn’t be surprised if despite the circumstances, there might have been an effort to find a way to send Kiran back once it was clear how screwed everyone was. No one wants to see them hurt. Everyone, but Alfonse in particular, makes it their mission to protect Kiran. So, for things to end this way, it would imply a lot of people being dead and million things having gone horrifically wrong.
It would imply Kiran, scared and alone in a Emblian blood temple, having to make an awful choice.
#feh Ted talk#A cute little mini one for the soul!#Man I should draw that scene in the blood temple. Twisting the knife on that sounds really fun.#feh#fire emblem heroes#fire emblem#feh kiran#kiran#feh summoner#fe kiran#fe summoner#ask answered#fe lif#FE Thrasir

About Brave Alfonse!
People I am so happy about Brave Alfonse!! He is everything I hoped and dreamed of and even more. Not only the art is gorgeous but the chosen attire is the best they could have gone with. And his voice!
But what what is even more important to me is what it means for his mental health. Alfonse has finally healed his father and that makes me so happy for him. They even gave us the material to see for ourselves not only in his lines but in the forging bonds. Especially the one with Lif, because Lif being who he is has yet to come to terms with that problem. Well he does have a lot more issues than Alfonse and no one to help him with them. I am so glad as someone who still have this problem to solve and not much support to see that my boy had the support and help he needed. I wanted to make this post after I saw all of his lines first and separate my own feelings and traumas to canalize his growth.
Alfonse has spent years healing his father and has come a long way. I remember when Gustav was introduced how Alfonse would nit call his parents “father” or “mother”. The respect he had for them was not familial but that one that comes from the relationship any noble would have towards their leaders. At least it looked that way to me. Alfonse felt cold in his respect but admired their work with the kingdom. After all Gustav and Henriette are great leaders and Askr is prosperous because of their continuos work. It all changed when Gustav gave his life to save Alfonse. Although one could argue that Gustav did this because he himself was sick and about to die any way. You have to see the evidence as well. Gustav was a sentimentally constipated man and a workaholic too, but it does not mean he did not love his children. He did of course, in fact he loves them so much he gave his life for Alfonse. Gustav could have gone on as king not caring if his son died and just chosen Sharena who is a more obedient child as heir.
Gustav did give Alfonse a hard time but remember that Gustav and Henriette are not normal parents to begin with and they live in a place and time where royalty and nobles did not even take care of the children themselves. This is important because Alfonse and Sharena have lived in a circle of nobles that find it normal to not interact with their children. Sadly the children living this way may not form a familial bond with their parents but at least the trauma of seeing other children with their parents as a norm will not let them think that their parents do not love only them. What I mean is that our trauma of hearing other kids talking about how they interact with their parents and our parents no doing the same ( the norm) for us or with us is not going to affect them the same.
Alfonse is also a rebel and it grated on the relationship he had with his father which was already weak. Alfonse tell us himself he does not behave like a prince should and that he went against some people’s wishes to get into the Order. I am pretty sure those were his parent.
In later forging bonds where parents and children happen to cross we can see a change. Gustav’s death could have made Alfonse fall because of gilt but it helped him understand his father. Perhaps not in a “ He loved me so much” way but in a “ Now I understand why he did not want me to be in danger” and a “ Now that I am next to rule I understand my responsibility towards the line.” This leads him to see the responsibility his parents have and the sacrifices they have had to do to serve the people of Askr. Alfonse interact more with Henriette and starts calling her “Mother” and while talking about Gustav he starts calling him “father” instead of “the King”.
In his forging bonds with Anna we see that he has been training with the axe not only as a weapon to use in memory of his father but as he said, it is because he wants to understand him better. As he says in his line to Lif :“ Father’s ax is very heavy, it is more so for the burden it represents..” (My game is in Spanish and some of his line may sound different as I translate them) This means that now he understand why his father did what he did. He had a great burden to carry and he was sick to boot. Gustav had ( like many parents) to sacrifice time to do more for the better good. Some people are just bad at time management and it does not mean they do not love their kids.
Anna has been not only his teacher but his support in this journey. And Anna has not been the only support he has had to help him heal his parents as we can see in the forging bonds with fallen Lumera and Henriette; but with his line “The trust and the support the heroes have given me have forged the person I am today.” lets us see all the help he has had and how far he has gone from “I don’t want to get close to the heroes” to “ They have helped me and supported me.”
But it is one of the last lines he has told his dark side Lif that gives you the best proof. “ My father told me once that…’ A king has to harden his heart when when he has to make decisions for the good of the Kingdom of Askr’ but I will not harden my heart to the point of ABANDONING those who suffer before my eyes.” With this he is telling Lif and us that he understands his father did what he did for the kingdom and that he ( Alfonse) will do better.
Any way. Al our pal has grown in many ways and he seems happy and strong and nothing would make me happier than that. At least this is my humble opinion.

Introducing the Shroud brothers!
Again, more notes under the cut.
Other posts of this AU:
[ Diasomnia ]
Originally, both brothers were alive (possibly residing in the Realm of Life) however Ortho was murdered when they were younger as a result of Idia’s mistake.
As punishment for his actions, Idia was given a choice and he agreed to preside over Hel rather than... being tortured? Kept in prison? I don’t know.
One of the main reasons he agreed was also because he wanted to be with Ortho/see him again and well, only the dead can enter Hel.
Idia generally dislikes his role since he can’t ever leave Hel and while Ortho is more free to explore (like Lif and Thrasir could), he mostly sticks to his big brother’s side to keep him company (and sane)
Unlike Hel, Idia isn’t going around killing people but moreso just ensuring that people who have to die do die, along with keeping the dead souls in Hel
I guess if Ortho were in the game he’d be the free unit who joins the Summoner/Askr Group
By the way, Ortho totally shoots a giant laser in his attack animation

TW: death, blood, child death
_______________________________________________
“What if you die and I’m still here?”
He ran.
Alfonse ran as fast as he can.
“Then you’ll be all grown up”
He broke down the doors, “SUMMONER!!” He cries out, voice breaking.
Tired from running, so tried from fighting. Just tired.
‘Please be alive. Please be alive’
“And you won’t need me”
He saw them. A child no older then 8 in a white and gold robes. Laying near a red headed woman dressed in white.
He slowly walked to them, heart beating faster and faster, “no, no, no, no”
“..I think I always need you….”
“…Alfonse”
The child was in fact, his summoner. They lay next to Anna, who was also dead. For a while now. It looked like she carried them before being killed herself and the summoner rolled out of her arms. Anna looked to be in very bad shape, one of her notable injuries is that she had a slash mark on her back. A big one for that matter. It looked like to be from a sword or a axe.
The summoner looked no better than Anna. They had some arrows in their back and battle markings on their face. Blood on their front, looking like they took a sword swing to the chest.
He feel on his knees, covered his face in his hands. He lost his sister, his mother, his commander and now his summoner.
In the first time in a long while. Alfonse cried. He actually fully broke down.
Why was Hel so cruel?
_______________________________________________
Lif was summoned to Askr only a few weeks ago. Honestly if you ask him, he is still very much in shock he was summoned here if all places. A world very much like his. But only everyone he cared about is alive.
He was on his daily patrol around the castle until he stop to hear familiar voices. He turned to see the Child!Summoner and Alfonse having a conversation that he couldn’t help but overhear.
What he heard broke him.
“I think I always need you….”

I Really Wish I Had My Feh Pass Subscription Right Now!
There was little Alfonse could stand less than defeat. Fleeing with his tail between his legs felt like far too cowardly an action for a prince to take. He ought to remain in Garreg Mach and defend it until his last breath... but he couldn't allow himself to. Interference on that scale was exactly what he had sworn not to do.
When Alfonse came to this Fódlan, he had promised himself he would stay neutral to anything that occurred. He wanted no part in the political turmoil that plagued every Fódlan he had witnessed. This one seemed a fair bit more peaceful, at least when he had arrived, but how long would that last? Clearly, the answer was not very. War had come to this Fódlan the same as all the others.
Alfonse was ever bound by the need to help others. People before him were in trouble. How could he just abandon them? Helping every world he could see was impossible, but this one-- it was more than within his reach. Some of the people here could be considered his friends. Abandoning them to return to Askr now would be callous at best, if not outright cruel.
Alfonse sighed, hand outstretched as he gazed off towards the distant monastery. He could so easily call forth a gateway home and depart. Would that be cowardice? No. It would be smart. It would be safe. He could return here with support from Askr or the Order of Heroes, and he could save these people. He could stop the invasion. He could end this.
...But what then? What would come after? Would he just leave this Fódlan with full knowledge of Askr's might lurking just on the horizon? What if they decided they did not want their world tied to Zenith? What if they decided to turn their aggressive tendencies on Alfonse's home? What if knowledge of other versions of Fódlan, of the people within it, made things all the worse here?
Alfonse's arm dropped to his side. He was too weary to keep it outstretched this long while he deliberated on whether he ought to act or not. A wound in his side was screaming in agony just from that little action. He needed to limp away while he still could. As much as he wanted to go back in there, he couldn't allow himself to die here. Sharena would never forgive him.
He needed to live on and see an end to this gruesome battle. Alfonse could scarcely begin to move his legs, but he needed to force himself to move. He needed to leave. He would follow the trail he had seen others take, find out where they had gone. Perhaps he ought to cover their footprints as he went, try and ensure nobody else followed him. Anyone else who had made it out would likely try and regroup and return. If he wasn't among them, would they even notice? Would they remember him? Would they assume he fell and died during the battle?
Would anyone here miss him?
...No, best not to worry on that now. Fighting back these invaders was simply self-defense. He had been attacked too, after all. Besides, if he returned to Askr until this all ended and came back later, he would never be trusted here again. No doubt they would assume him involved in the attack. He had to stay and fight. His conscience wouldn't allow anything else.
Each step was agony, and he knew it would not get any easier as he went. Still, between the surrounding lands and the still-burning monastery, he'd rather take his chances wherever the others had headed. Death was less certain out there.

4. Follow You - Bring Me The Horizon

5. Hate That You Know Me - Bleachers

6. My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys - Taylor Swift
My boy (My boy), only breaks his favorite toys, toys, oh I'm queen (I'm queen), of sand castles he destroys, oh, oh 'Cause I knew too much, there was danger in the heat of my touch He saw forever, so he smashed it up, oh, oh
7. Shadows - Red
There's a hate inside of me like some kind of master I tried to save you but I can't find the answer I'm holding onto you, I'll never let go I need you with me as I enter the shadows
8. Get Away - CHVRCHES
I'll be your guide so you can see The other side and I will never let you get away Never let you get away
And so they continued on eternally, partners never to be parted.
So yeah, I'm back with another mini playlist curated from my main one, this one focused on toxic chrima inspired by Fell Exalt Chrom and his Forging Bonds, but not staying 100% true to that canon because that Grima is able to send Chrom away to have a better time in Askr, and we're not having any of that nonsense in THIS playlist, oh no. The invisible ties that bind them have been dyed red in blood, and there is no escaping fate when they'd both choose ruin over breaking that bond.
The songs I used here aren't necessarily in a particular order in a narrative sense, though they are grouped in pairs corresponding to Grima's POV followed by Chrom's POV. I did take care to make sure that My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys was paired with Hate That You Know Me because of the "I knew too much" line—in my mind, this ties into Grima trying to harshly distance himself from the past he shared with Chrom, insisting that the Robin Chrom knew is dead and that Chrom will never be reunited with him, because he thinks that it would be less painful for Chrom to believe there is nothing human in him left than to be constantly looking for signs that his partner is still himself... even though the signs are all there and not too hard to pick up on for someone who knows Grima well.
I also deliberately ended the playlist with Get Away because it's a sort of... lighter note than the rest. It also pairs particularly well with Shadows just before it because "I'll be your guide so you can see" is a perfect response to "Caught in the darkness, I go blind/Can you help me find my way out?" Even though this is toxic chrima, there's still relief from their despair to be found in each other. This also plays nicely with Follow You from earlier in the playlist, "Crossing your heart and hoping to never let you get away" serving as a callback to "Cross your heart and hope to die/Promise me you'll never leave my side" and "Cross my heart and hope to die/Promise you I'll never leave your side." I really like the way that worked out. Grima, you are never getting away from your other half, and that is both a threat and a promise.
#chrom x grima#chrobin#fire emblem awakening#fe13#fanmix#playlist#i actually had the playlist prepared like a week ago but then resplendent grima's lines were datamined and. well. i was distracted#but now we've all had time to calm down about him right?#resplendent party's winded down now we can retire to the drawing room to enjoy some toxic doomed chrima#Spotify

Are you in pain?
This question is feh book 8 related
Hahahah yeah a bit!
Honestly I’m just mostly pleased that the story is turning out to be so compelling… it took a while to get there for me personally, but I’m glad it did.
Very scared for how it may end tho ofc!!
In a perfect world, the Book 8 cast can be a happy family again… but probably some of them are gonna die… :')
Huh now I’m just realizing, bc from the beginning of this book I’ve assumed it’ll conclude on the peace between Askr and Embla finally made official (which I would love to see, emotional moment fr, they’ve come so far…)
But now that is hard for me to perceive how it’ll fit into place with the Healing Hands plot to resolve.
Well, nothing to do but wait and see what happens I suppose!

Book III Revisit Chapter 12 Part 4
After defeating Lif, Alfonse finds he was carrying something.
Here's the moment we get the black Breidablik.
Though I wonder how the Summoner died canonically in the Doomed Askr? My theory is that most likely died because of the Heart's Rite either by performing the rite or being one of causalities of it after it was performed. Though I wonder who performed the Rite. It was mentioned earlier that those who performed the Rite were the first to die from it but they never mentioned who performed it.
I know the Doomed version of my Summoner would have been hesitant to use the Rite because of the cost, but ended up going along with it once it was clear there was no other way. My headcanon kind of leans towards that she was at least present for the rite being performed and then died from it not long afterwards. So in a way that would fit with Lif's "I made a dangerous wager and I lost" line, because while the rite gave Bridablik the power the kill, the also lost the only person who could wield it in the process.
Ow my heart. 😭
Bit of Summoner Lore for my version: Aside from the black Bridablik, Lif was also carrying a pair of glasses with a crack in one of the lenses. Before the Rite was done, Doomed Summoner's glasses get a crack in them in a battle and like "Don't worry about it, I'll fix it later." and of course "later" never came.
Alfonse hands the Black Bridablik to Miranda.
As they leave Miranda looks back at Lif, who is no longer moving makes a silent promise to him. 'We'll beat Hel for you.'
End of Chapter 12.
Only one more chapter to go.
